Additional Features
WoundExpert supports a range of optional components and additional features which can be integrated into any of the product configurations to best respond to the unique administrative, clinical, documentation, treatment and reimbursement needs of our clients. In addition, seamless, secure patient information exchange with hospital provider/partners information systems is facilitated by Health Level Seven, more commonly referred to as HL7 Integration, and supports patient admission, discharge and transfer orders, clinical results, and billing.
HL7 Integration
Hospital systems typically employ multiple computer systems to manage patient health
information from admission and discharge information through orders and billing. In order to
increase the availability of patient information for care providers, these disparate systems need to
communicate with each other to exchange data. WoundExpert® uses the Health Level Seven
(HL7) Standard for all communications with hospital information systems.
There are three types of communication that Net Health Systems supports between WoundExpert
and hospital information systems:
• Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) – WoundExpert can receive admission/discharge information containing demographics, referring and primary care physicians, and insurance coverage.
• Result - WoundExpert can send clinical result data entered into WoundExpert to hospital electronic medical records systems for review by multiple care providers within the hospital system.
• Billing –WoundExpert can help improve the efficiency of billing claims by sending ICD-9 and CPT information directly to your hospital billing system.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
HBOT is a proven treatment for several conditions associated with chronic wounds as well as a variety of other diagnoses and
conditions. WoundExpert supports Outpatient programs' use of HBOT from the documentation of TCOM results through the
recording of safety assessments to HBOT treatment information. HBOT reports provide performance measurements
for treatment complication rates, re-authorization alerts, and treatment protocol efficacy. Our HBOT module can be used in conjunction
with a wound care program or as a stand-alone software system delivered to non-wound care HBOT centers.
Lymphedema
WoundExpert supports the planning of an effective patient treatment program for Lymphedema through a multidisciplinary approach
to improve the quality of information detailing progress. A detailed evaluation by a therapist trained in
lymphedema treatment, augmented by supporting clinical and photographic documentation in WoundExpert, will help support
billing activities and illustrate medical necessity. WoundExpert's Lymphedema module automatically calculates the volume change
from visit to visit to determine the efficacy of the current treatment.
Burns
WoundExpert supports a multidisciplinary team approach to optimize the quality of burn patient care - Occupational Therapy,
Physical Therapy, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Nutrition, and the Physician team.
WoundExpert ensures initial assessment accuracy of the estimation of burn size and depth, while providing ongoing monitoring throughout
the healing and rehabilitation process.
